Is an Ikea bed really the cause of the birth of one in ten Europeans?

"One in ten Europeans would have been conceived in an Ikea bed" ... For almost fifteen years, we have regularly seen this information repeated in French as well as foreign media. And since Ikea claims to record 1 billion visits to its stores every year, the involvement of its bedding in the sex life of such a large number of Europeans does not seem implausible.

But how to measure such a thing? How can we ensure that the parents of these 10% of Europeans actually conceive their children in an Ikea bed, and not in a sofa, an armchair or even on the floor? The question deserves all the more a fact-checking that some relay this figure by mentioning "serious studies".
