Former Atlético de Madrid Academy player Alberto Rentero suffered a serious traffic accident a week ago in the US and remains hospitalized in the ICU in serious condition.
The 25-year-old from Madrid is in a coma after suffering a traumatic brain injury. His family has been forced to start a campaign to raise money through the GoFundMe portal to be able to face the high expenses of the private health system in the United States.
The family's first request was for 40,000 euros, an objective that has already been achieved with the contribution of up to 837 donors. But the financial goal has been increased and right now stands at 60,000 euros.
Alberto Rentero was currently playing on the Nova Southeastern University team after training in the youth ranks of Atlético de Madrid. The midfielder shared a dressing room with players like Lucas and Theo Hernández. Later he played for UD San Sebastián de los Reyes and for CA Pinto.
