Xavi: "It has been a good chestnut"

With his perennial optimism, Xavi Hernández tried to see the glass as half full after losing to Bayern, a result that was added to Inter's triumph that certified Barça's elimination from the Champions League, but it was not entirely convincing. He did not have it easy on a late night, another one, disastrous for the interests of Barça.

Of course, the Barça coach did not make any excuse this time and admitted the superiority of the German roller. "Bayern has been better in many aspects, I have nothing to blame. We have not reached their level, they have been better, of course. We have not competed well," the Terrassa player resolved dejectedly before the television cameras.

Barça jumped to play against the Bavarians already eliminated after Inter's victory. "The elimination has affected us psychologically, that's for sure. We have tried not to go through the talk by appealing to courage, honor and pride, but it has not been possible, it's time to rebuild and continue. The season does not end in October, it's time to disconnect and then connect for the other competitions", he insisted, seeing the glass half full. "We are eliminated by our own mistakes, unlike last year we had it in our hands," he added with a touch of realism.

Xavi, who insisted on his praise for the support that the Barça fans gave his team, tried to show himself strong in front of the fans after the hard setback suffered by Barça. "I'm fine, I was screwed after what happened against Inter but now there are more competitions -he recalled-. If things don't work out at the end of the year, I'll be the first one I'll see".

Xavi was very graphic in defining the blow suffered by Barça with the defeat: "It was a good chestnut but I already said that we are a team under construction and we still had to grow based on chestnuts". The coach did not want to say goodbye without first recalling his mantra of the year in the Champions League: "We had a really difficult group and everything has happened to us, the competition has been very cruel but today was because we did not compete well. We are leaving with a bad feeling."
