Banksy confirms the authorship of a graffiti on a ruined building in Ukraine

Banksy's presence in Ukraine seems to be confirmed after the rumors of recent days. The enigmatic and vindictive British artist has posted on his Instagram account (Banksy's usual way of disseminating his works) three images of one of his graffiti on the wall of a ruined building in the city of Borodyanka, in the suburb of kyiv.

The image shows a gymnast performing a balance exercise on the ruins of a building destroyed by Russian army bombing.

There has been speculation for days about the presence of the anonymous graffiti artist in the war-torn country after a series of murals appeared in the city of Borodyanka, near Kyiv.

One of them shows a man whose appearance reminds Russian President Vladimir Putin being brought down by a child's judo lock.

In another of the graffiti that appeared in the city, presumably the work of the British artist, some children play on a seesaw.

In a third, the image of a gymnast performing an artistic gymnastics pirouette with a ribbon on a ruined wall is clearly visible.

All these graffiti are consistent with Banksy's own style, so rumors about their possible authorship have circulated massively in recent hours, but so far, the artist with an unconfirmed identity has only uploaded the images to his official Instagram account. of the graffiti of the first gymnast.

The British artist has previously captured some of his vindictive graffiti in other territories in conflict, such as the West Bank, as an expression of solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Borodyanka, located northwest of the capital, was one of the towns hardest hit by Russian bombing at the beginning of the invasion.

Russian soldiers invaded in February this year and held the town for weeks before it was liberated in April.

Since then, the city has been the focus of reconstruction efforts, with several towers demolished as a result of damage from the fighting.

Ukrinform also recalls that a graffiti by the author was recently auctioned in London, for charity in support of a Ukrainian children's hospital, which reached the figure of 81,000 pounds.
