A 12-year-old Palestinian boy died Monday from injuries he sustained two weeks ago from Israeli Army gunfire during a military incursion into Jenin, a town in the northern occupied West Bank, Palestinian sources reported.

"The boy Mahmoud Muhamad Jalil Samoudi, 12 years old, succumbed to serious injuries to his abdomen a few days ago in Jenin," said a statement from the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

For its part, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that the minor's injuries were caused "by Israeli Army fire" during an incursion on September 28, which left a total of four Palestinians dead and 44 wounded.

Two of these Palestinian teenagers were members of the Al Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad and with a particular presence in the Jenin refugee camp, bastion of the Palestinian militia movement and epicenter of most of the violent raids by the Israeli Army.

So far this year, at least 20 Palestinian minors have died and 744 have been injured in the occupied West Bank in the framework of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, according to the latest figures available from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). ).

On September 29, a 7-year-old Palestinian boy died of a heart attack that, according to his family, was the result of fear of the presence of Israeli soldiers in his village. The Israeli Army, however, concluded that its troops were not involved in the death of a child.

Seven months ago, Israeli forces intensified their raids and "anti-terror operations" in the West Bank in response to a wave of five attacks between March and April on Israeli soil in which 18 people were killed - including two policemen - which has caused their time an increase in violent attacks by armed Palestinian youth, especially in Jenin and Nablus. Three Israeli soldiers have died in subsequent confrontations.
