Osceola teacher carried another teacher into closet and battered her, deputies say

A reading teacher at Parkway Middle School was arrested Wednesday on accusations that he put another employee in a closet and battered her, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Shawn Greaves, 51, is facing battery and kidnapping charges.

Deputies were called to the school on Florida Parkway, northeast of Kissimmee, on April 5 after the employee reported the incident, Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jacob Ruiz said.

The woman, whose name wasn’t released, told authorities she was meeting in a classroom with several other teachers, including Greaves.

After the meeting was over, she stayed behind to talk about a field trip to SeaWorld when Greaves picked her up and carried her into a closet in the classroom, according to an arrest affidavit.

Greaves put the woman on a desk in the closet and thrust himself against her three or four times, deputies said.

She told deputies she was screaming and tried to push him away.

“Get your hands off me!” she screamed during the incident, an arrest report said.

Greaves then left the classroom.

Another teacher witnessed the incident, according to the report. It’s unclear why she did not intervene.

The victim told other teachers and the principal about what happened before calling authorities.

She told deputies through tears that she felt “disorientated, nervous and shaken up.”

Ruiz said the woman was not injured.

After the incident was reported, the Osceola County School District reassigned Greaves to another job where he does not interact with children. He no longer works in the school.
