Àngels Chacón returns to the private sector after leaving the management of Centerm

The former Minister of Business of the Generalitat and PDECat candidate in the 2021 elections, Àngels Chacón, has rejoined the private sector after leaving active politics last summer. The promoter of Centrem has joined the Llorente y Cuenca consultancy (LLYC) in the position of senior director of corporate strategy in the Barcelona office.

LLYC is a communication, digital marketing and public affairs consultancy that has offices in Spain, Portugal, the United States and various Latin American countries. It defines itself as a firm that aims to help its clients "achieve their short-term business goals and defend their social license to operate and increase their prestige." In a statement released by the company, Chacón described his new professional adventure as an “exciting challenge” with which he hopes to contribute “to the growth of an innovative productive economy open to the world” through “defining strategies”.

Chacón announced in mid-August that she was leaving the position of secretary general of Centrem, a project that she herself had promoted this year. The new party intends to bring together the space of the Catalanist center with the confluence of the PDeCAT, Convergents, Lliures and the Lliga Democràtica. In a letter that she sent to the militancy at that time, the PDECat candidate in the elections of February 14, 2021 alleged that the main reason for her departure was "internal struggles" and "some partisan dynamics" with the that she hadn't been able to deal with. Even so, she Chacón announced that she would continue with the Centrem militant card.

Before undertaking this project and not obtaining representation in the last elections with the PDECat, Àngels Chacón was Minister of Business and Coneixement of the Government in the period of Quim Torra, although she did not finish her term. She had previously been general director of Industry and deputy mayor in the Igualada City Council. In the private sphere, her career has been focused on international trade -within the paper industry-, especially in the markets of the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
