A judge suspends the issuance of the stamp commemorating the centenary of the Communist Party

Magistrate Carmen Casado of Madrid's 30th contentious-administrative court has issued an order provisionally suspending the issuance of the commemorative stamp of the centenary of the Communist Party of Spain, the political organization, legalized in the first years of democracy, on April 9 of 1977, founded in 1921.

The magistrate thus attends to a petition presented by the association of Christian Lawyers in which it was requested that the issuance of the stamp that was to go on sale on November 14 with a circulation of 135,000 copies and a postal value of 0, be suspended. 75 euro cents.

In her order, the judge does not go into assessing the substance of the matter -the reasons alleged by Christian Lawyers that she does not even reproduce in her judicial decision- but limits herself to considering the requested suspension pertinent given that "it is understood that the special urgency that warrants the adoption of the most precautionary measure.”

Christian Lawyers is an organization made up of lawyers, attorneys, jurists, professors and law students in 2021. One of the main causes of the organization is the fight against abortion and Christian religious freedom. It has also raised lawsuits related to the defense of the Valley of the Fallen.

The issuance of this commemorative stamp by Correos has provoked a furious reaction among the conservative forces in Spain. PP, Vox and Ciudadanos have demanded the withdrawal of the seal and even the resignation of the current president of the public company.
