Turull fuels the candidacy of Xavier Trias for Barcelona again

"Without a doubt, for me", affirms the secretary general of JuntsxCatalunya, Jordi Turull, when asked by Gemma Nega in La 2 about whether Xavier Trias would be the best name to head the party's list for the Barcelona City Council. "The prestige and esteem of Xavier Trias goes far beyond a party acronym," adds the party's number two who has just left the Government of the Generalitat.

A few weeks ago, the former mayor of Barcelona conditioned his candidacy on Junts not leaving the Catalan Executive and that there be peace between Junts and Esquerra Republicana and within the post-convergence formation. In fact, last week, prior to the consultation, he decided to freeze his decision by declaring himself "stunned" by the situation. But just after the consultation in which the departure of Junts from the Government was imposed, Trias called Turull to, in the words of the general secretary, offer him "all his collaboration".

"And you know what collaboration I would like to ask you for," he added, implying that Trias could be reconsidering. However, he did not want to confirm anything. "The announcement must be made by him, it's not up to me," Turull said, adding that everything depends on the Federation of Junts in Barcelona and Trias, whom he sees "in very good shape" despite his age (76 years ). In this regard, he has pointed out that when one is older he has "many virtues, experience and accumulated prestige."

Turull has also explained that soon the Barcelona party federation will activate the mechanisms for the election of the candidate and the list and has not ruled out even a tandem of Trias with the already ex-counselor of Health Josep Maria Argimon.

In relation to post-election pacts, the number two of the postconvergents has assured that his priority is to agree with pro-independence forces, including Esquerra, although he has warned that, particularly in small municipalities -the majority- the agreements work more because of personal affinities than because of ideologies. of match. However, he has claimed that in the capitals the agreements are "reference" but that everything depends on the results.
