Political controversy in Badalona due to the poor condition of the Sistrells municipal swimming pool

New political controversy generated as a result of the criticisms leveled by the PP spokesman and candidate, Xavier García Albiol, to the poor state of the swimming pool of the Sistrells Municipal Export Complex, which has part of the bottom floor raised. The reply from the municipal government points to a report from the concession company dated March 24, 2021, with Albiol as mayor, before the socialist Àlex Pastor succeeded him in November 2021, in which he regrets the lack of response from their interlocutors in the City Council.

The PP warns that in recent months the floor of the municipal pool "has been completely lifted" and criticizes that the City Council, despite repeated warnings, has not carried out any intervention to prevent its continued degradation, or to repair the flaws. For this reason, he accuses the municipal government of "sloppiness and laziness", which he accuses of "allowing the state of an installation to reach the point of great danger for the thousands of residents who use it".

Teresa González, current Councilor for Sports in the City Council of Badalona, in a radio chat assured that she will hold a meeting with those responsible for the concession and recalls that improvements were made to the facility in 2011. However, she also details that the first notice of The damage arrived on March 24, 2021, when the concessionaire lamented the lack of response to the letters sent to two municipal technicians in the area.

Albiol maintains that "it is inadmissible that a city like Badalona has municipal swimming pools in this state", recalling that during his mandate an investment of almost 13 million was approved for the improvement of sports facilities and that "this money is still closed in a drawer ”.

The Sistrells Sports Complex is municipally owned and managed by the company Gestió i Imatge Esportiva 2001 through a concession that it has held since 2002.
