Ryanair: strikes called until January of ground handling staff

The USO union has announced this Wednesday strikes from October to January in Ryanair aircraft ground handling staff. The protests will start this Friday, October 28, and will last until January 8 at the 22 Spanish airports where it provides service, with strike days in November and December, as explained in a statement.

The measure seeks to launch the negotiating table for the first agreement for this group, which has been paralyzed since 2020. USO focuses on points such as occupational risk prevention or shift work.

These workers are in charge of tasks such as assistance services on the ground, to aircraft and passengers; billing; merchandise and mail; and service of placement and removal of gangways, which connect the aircraft with the port terminal.

The strikes will last 24 hours, with the first on October 28. They will be repeated on October 29, 30 and 31, as well as on November 1. That is, five days in a row. This will be followed by partial stoppages between 04:00 and 07:00, 12:00 and 15:00, and 21:00 and 23:00 on each Friday, Saturday and Sunday in November.

In December there will be total strikes again on December 8, 11, 30 and 31. Likewise, there will be partial strikes at the same hours on 6, 10, 16, 17, 18, 22 and 23. In January the strike will last 24 hours on January 6 and 8.

Stoppages at the airports of Madrid, Malaga, Barcelona, ​​Alicante, Seville, Mallorca, Ibiza, Valencia, Girona, Santiago de Compostela, Reus, Tenerife Sur, Arrecife, Jerez, Santander, Las Palmas, Zaragoza, Fuerteventura, Mahón, Almería, Valladolid, Tenerife North and Murcia.
