The family of Yolanda González, "outraged" by the hiring of her killer as a Borràs expert

The family of Yolanda González, a communist activist assassinated by the far-rightist Emilio Hellín in 1980 - who has been hired by the defense of Laura Borràs as an expert witness in her legal case for breaking up contracts - has demanded that the political representatives act with "ethics and values rights” regarding victims of terrorism such as González, who was recognized as such in 2000. The family has expressed “indignation” after being aware of the hiring of Hellín, whom yesterday the Prosecutor's Office asked to remove from the case due to his background .

Hellín was part of the Spanish Basque Battalion when he murdered 19-year-old Yolanda González in 1980 under the false pretext that she was from ETA, when in fact she was a member of the Socialist Workers Party (PST). In the statement, the victim's family recalls that the far-right "has never shown a hint of repentance" for this act, for which he was sentenced to 43 years in prison. The sentence came in 1982 and he was in prison until 1996, with a parenthesis caused by his escape to Paraguay until he was arrested and extradited to Spain.

González's family has also lamented that already in 2013 it came to light that Hellín had been working for the Ministry of the Interior in training tasks aimed at the State security forces and bodies, which is why the Government "had to give explanations and promise the family that it would not happen again”.

Emilio Hellín, now known as Luis Enrique Helling, has been hired by the defense of the suspended President of the Parliament, Laura Borràs, to prepare an expert report in the case that affects an alleged division of contracts while he directed the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes (ILC). The function of Hellín and other computer scientists has been to analyze two hard drives of Isaías Herrero, the friend whom he allegedly favored with finger contracts. Even so, the Prosecutor's Office asked the TSJC to remove the ex-militant from Fuerza Nueva, considering that "whoever has transgressed the law and the right in this way cannot be considered a valid cooperator in any act or effect of justice," according to ElDiario. it is.

In response to the request of the Public Prosecutor, Borràs's lawyer, Gonzalo Boye, described it as a "smokescreen" so that the expert report would lose force. In a tweet, the lawyer denied that Borràs had responsibilities in this matter. "We select the two experts in the case and hire their lawyers, it is a technical decision," said Boye, who justified the choice because "they are the best."
