Feijóo promises to recover the crime of sedition when he governs

If Alberto Núñez Feijóo were President of the Government, he would never have done what Pedro Sánchez has done, give in to the independence supporters on a matter as serious as the abolition of sedition, and he is clear about what he will do when he is President, reverse the situation created by Sánchez and make the crime of sedition return to the Penal Code.

Feijóo appeared before the media shortly after arriving in Spain from Ecuador, where he ended his week-long tour of Latin America. He did it at the PP headquarters on Génova street next to a flag of Spain and one of the European Union placed for the occasion.

The president of the PP appeared to make a statement to the Spaniards, without accepting questions, to underline that "Spain does not deserve that Sánchez's only project is to buy time", although for that he makes a weaker Spain, and for that reason he summoned socialist barons to speak up, say what they think and act accordingly. He knows what he will do: "Not cheapen the attacks on the Constitution", because the only thing Sánchez has done, in his opinion, is "make the path easier" for the independentistas, for the "next opportunity".

Pedro Sánchez's decision has not taken Alberto Núñez Feijóo by surprise. Since he spoke to him when he suggested that if he went ahead with the sedition he would break off the talks to renew the judiciary, he came to the conclusion not only that he would do it, but that he would do it soon.

Feijóo has verified that Sánchez has not minded breaking the union of the constitutionalists who applied article 155 of the Constitution when the declaration of independence took place in 2017, and that is why he wonders "What is the limit of Sánchez in his transfers" . He himself replied: "It does not exist, Sánchez no longer has limits."

The president of the PP stressed that after arriving in Spain he did not want "one more minute to go by to address the Spanish so that they know my opinion and my commitment." His opinion is that as much as Sánchez wants to dress what he has done "it is a repeal", not an adaptation of the crime to the European environment where, he said, these attitudes are punished more harshly than in Spain. He has done it simply, he said, "for political survival."

"I have confirmed - he said - that Sánchez has definitively accepted the pro-independence blackmail to overcome parliamentary weakness, even if it is at the cost of disarming the nation of an essential instrument to protect its integrity". That is why his feeling, which he believes is shared by many citizens, is one of "indignation and sadness", because "legislation of crimes à la carte of those who have committed them and announce their willingness to reoffend, is irresponsible and contrary to democratic values" .

Feijóo reproaches Sánchez for wanting to "rewrite the legal response" to "the attempted sedition of 2017" by suppressing the crime of sedition, thus compromising judicial independence, since "state instruments are being used to privilege some politicians concrete".

But the president of the PP is not alone in criticizing Sánchez for what he has done, he, he said, is the head of the PSOE, but the PSOE "is more than Sánchez", and the entire PSOE "is responsible for establishing a position in this moment, because "when certain borders are crossed in the coexistence of a Nation, it is essential to speak up and act accordingly".

Feijóo thus summons, especially the barons of the PP, to do something, to raise their voices and do everything possible so that it does not continue, because "either you are with the convicted and with the escaped or you are with the legality democratic. There is not much more debate," he stressed. The leader of the PP considers that before "this aberration" it is a "moral duty".

The president of the PP wanted to tell the Spaniards "what I will never do", which is summed up in that he would never deliver "the stability of my country to those who want to fracture and divide it". Given this, he only has to say what he will do: "I would not only have never made this decision, but also, I will reverse it if I am President of the Government, because neither Sánchez nor the independence movement can penalize attacks on the Constitution. I will do it out of respect for the Constitutional order but also as a symbol of what I want for my country: a Spain that bows down to no one". What he will do, he stressed, is "defend, in all the ways that are within our reach, that the decision adopted today be reversed as soon as possible."

Alberto Núñez Feijoo did not forget to launch a message addressed to the Catalans: "None of this is going to allow us to recover normality because impunity never brings coexistence," he told them, and for this reason, regardless of his ideology, he promised to " defend them and protect them".
