Solution Enables Companies to Securely Deploy, Manage and Bill for Online Applications and Media

Sept 20, 2003, Saint-Sauveur, Quebec --- I and A Research Inc, a leading Canadian software developer has announced the availability of a unique media delivery system that delivers billable web content to users in a format similar to television. Users download a small browser application to login to private, secure networks that they customize to their specific information needs, from any location in the world. The browser mimics the function of a TV set with channel switching of content, and communicates with it's own broadcast servers.

"Television distributes video to thousands of users by dividing the content into channels", explains Charles Guerin, President of I & A Research, "Years ago cable and satellite operators added the concept of subscription billing systems so that viewers could select which of the hundreds of channels they wished to pay for."

"Our system uses the simplicity of television's channel-switching concept and the practicality of 'package accounting' to ease the deployment of any type of web media including video, courseware and online applications, and to bill for it while maintain very tight security. Content and online application providers can concentrate on producing quality content and leave the subscription reporting and user administration problem to us. Two mouse clicks are all that's needed to bring any document or online media to the focused attention of thousands of users."

Targeted for sale to media content creators, application service providers (ASPs), in aviation, project management and health sciences, the core technology called Canaux Focus Groupcasting Server is intended to simplify the administration and billing for access to content located on corporate intranets, extra-nets and media streaming servers. The multi-product subscription system can be used by ASP's to mix and match packages to be sold to a company, or can be used by a company as a cost-management system allowing them to better manage and monitor corporate use of online services. Most web content - courseware, videos, informational brochures and online applications may be broadcast to users, and billed.

The architecture is touted as "extremely scalable" and clustered configurations allow the system to ramp up from 100 to 1,000,000 users. Several companies have become early adopters of the new technology to distribute health courseware, aviation manuals, and on-line Citrix-based applications.

Ken Lammi, CEO of Clinical BioInformatics Consulting, Inc., a provider of software and consulting for the Health Sciences marketplace says, “Canaux Focus enables CBC to provide a secure, easy-to-use solution to converge content management, training, and process applications into a single point of entry. Health Science professionals are too busy to worry about how to get into multiple applications on their desk tops, yet privacy and security requirements mandated by HIPAA rules are making their lives more complicated when it comes to running computer based applications. " Lammi went on to say, “Canaux Focus is the tool that Health Sciences professionals have been waiting for, it makes their interaction with computers easier and yet provides the security needed to stay in compliance with HIPAA”.

I&A Research Inc has entered into a program with On-Board Data Systems(OBDS), to develop document subscription management services based on the I&A research "Canaux Focus" browser technology.

OBDS is the leading provider of Electronic Checklist and content management to the Aviation Industry. Integrated with the recently announced MFB(TM) "Multi-Function FlightDeck Browser" from OBDS, the Canaux components will give pilots in-flight access to documents from aircraft equipment suppliers, and fed directly to a Tablet PC(ClassII EFB device) in the cockpit.

"We found Canaux Focus to be an excellent choice as a front end for our online Business Fabric offerings" states Joe Griffiths, Market Development Manager at HDS Hosting and Data Centre Services, a Hitachi Data Systems partner in New Zealand which has demonstrated use of the system to deliver Citrix applications.

Canadian Kid's Page author Leslie Owens states "My site's audience - children - have no difficulty finding their favourite TV show, even if they don't yet know how to read. Canaux makes it possible for this same audience to find their favourite web content just as easily. I can locate content that is appropriate for children, make it easy for them to find and enjoy, and can even restrict them from wandering into unsavory areas of the net."

"Canaux", derived from the French word for "channels" is pronounced "Can-know".
