NEW "FIX Y2K" OFFERS AUTOMATIC SOLUTIONS FOR BOTH HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
PROBLEMS.
Firm offers checklist of things to watch for to insure your computers survive
Y2K.
Fresno, CA--As the Millennium approaches, the number of things that can go
wrong with business and home computers seem to be growing. "What once appeared
to be a problem that only affected your computer's clock now looks like it will
shut down software, hardware, maybe even your whole business," says Steven Wise
of Life Quest. The firm recently unveiled "Fix Y2K," a more advanced computer
program that diagnoses problems with hardware and software, then fixes them.
Fix Y2K is an improvement over other diagnostic applications that fix
hardware or software, but not both. "Many people feel they are safe addressing
their BIOS board hardware problems, but don't realize there are troubling Y2K
issues embedded in many of their favorite software programs," Wise points out.
Failure of a critical accounting program, spread sheet application, or storage
device could cause months of confusion for home computers and piles of lost
orders for businesses.
Wise also notes that even the overall operating system of most computers has
Y2K problems that will cause serious concerns after January 1. "Microsoft is now
saying there are corrections needed in Windows 95 and 98."
Life Quest offers this check list for computer owners:
1. Check the BIOS, the basic input/output system that takes care of date
maintenance.
2. Correct the computer's CMOS real-time clock.
3. Check for dating problems in the computer's operating system including
Windows, DOS, OS/2 and others.
4. Inventory the millennium bugs in your software. Internet, e-mail,
spreadsheet, database, and office suites often contain hidden bugs.
5. Many new computers are still not Y2K compliant. Check even recent purchases.
Those who have a computer tech on staff, or have technical abilities
themselves, can check for these problems. "The rest of us either need to hire an
expert or get an advanced diagnostic program like 'Fix Y2K'," Wise said.
"Fix Y2K" is available from Life Quest. Orders are now being accepted
for immediate shipment.
