SACRAMENTO, CA -- (USANews Press Release Network) -- Jan.13, 1999 ] What are
the Keys to Success in Today's Government IT Projects? Advanced Programming
Institute's CEO, Jon Porter, has answers. Mr. Porter has been selected by the
Government Technology Conference (GTC) Southwestern Region Advisory Board as one
of the main speakers for a Roundtable discussion for the GTC '99, February 8-12,
1999 in Austin, Texas at the Austin Convention Center (500 East Cesar Chavez,
Austin, Texas).
Project management continues to loom largely as a key strategic and tactical
point of leverage within state and local government organizations. A major
aspect of today's projects is the collaboration that must take place in order
for projects to succeed. These collaborations occur at every stage from project
planning through implementation and management. They involve interactions with
internal stakeholders, prospective vendors, and often with other agencies. The
many twists and turns in the communication lines alone can have major impact on
project successes. This roundtable will be a lively discussion of these issues
and will give you new insight into the rules of the road for success in
government projects.
Two other speakers will accompany Mr. Porter: Andre Pettigrew, Executive
Director, Department of Personnel, Colorado General Support Service; Max
Samfield, Data Services Manager, Houston-Galveston Area Council
