SACRAMENTO, CA -- (USANews Press Release Network) -- Jan.4, 1999 The field of
software development has undergone rapid, evolutionary changes. At the same
time, management techniques have changed to accommodate the new approach to
software development. At the center of the new developments are the Object
Oriented and Component Development methods.
Advanced Programming Institute, Inc. is leading the way for implementation of
Object Oriented Methodology in the Project Management field with a new
certificate program and 9 day OOPM™ course that is getting a lot of attention
within the software development community. Jon Porter, Chairman and Co-Founder
of API states, "by embracing this methodology, a project manager can complete
projects months ahead of schedule, and reduce software development and lifecycle
maintenance costs by as much as 50%." A synopsis of the course is available on
API's web site,
http://www.a-p-i.com/training/oopm_course.htm.
API offers a free symposium on OOPM™ Certification. The symposium is also
designed as an introduction to the information necessary for the successful
management of an OO and component development project. It begins with a short
historical perspective on the evolutionary changes that have occurred in the
field of software development then introduces the areas that the project manager
must manage in the course of setting up and completing a project. Key topics are
arranged so that a clear overview of OOPM™ is presented. The elements of an OO
project and their integration is described, and an OOPM™ problem solving method
is introduced which can be used to both set up and manage a successful project.
